Being a mom may be one of the best jobs one could ever ask for, but it’s also the most difficult. We try our best to be the best mom to our kids. Unfortunately, a perfect mom – someone who stays calm, organized, and in control 100% of the time – doesn’t exist.
Most of us would like to think that we are good parents. But sometimes, the overwhelming stress of parenting can get to you.
You try to hold it in as much as possible, until one day you can’t take it anymore and you explode. You find yourself on the verge of a complete mom meltdown.
You get angry and shout at the kids. You wanted everyone to leave you alone until the storm passes.
Later on, you feel guilty and even ashamed because of how you acted.
Just because your roared at the kids, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re a bad parent. There is nothing wrong with having meltdown.
Everyone loses it a little from time to time. At some point, we all need a moment to shut the door on the world, give ourselves permission to breathe, and process our own emotions.
Give yourself a time out
Being a parent is not an easy job. Sometimes a mom meltdown happens because of too much stress and exhaustion. To prevent this from happening, make sure that you schedule a “me” time, even if it’s just for a couple of hours a week.
We know you have a lot on your plate, but not everything needs to be done by you. You don’t need to watch the kids 24 hours a day either. Ask your spouse or your mom-in-law to watch your kids while you treat yourself to a quiet moment.
Studies suggest that people who enjoy alone time experience increase happiness, better life satisfaction, and improved stress management.
